Tips to Avoid Animal Transportation Scam

SkyWest Airlines has recently been notified that an individual or group of individuals is fraudulently using SkyWest’s name in an apparent animal transportation scam. Customers should use extreme caution if they are contacted by anyone asking for money in exchange for transporting an animal on a SkyWest Airlines flight. SkyWest Airlines does not ask customers to wire money or to use money transferring services like Western Union to pay applicable animal transport fees.

SkyWest Airlines welcomes and regularly transports animals on flights as long as they meet the requirements explained on the Customer Information page. Customers should also keep the following in mind:

  • Applicable fees for transporting animals are paid by the customer during flight check in.
  • SkyWest does not ask customers to wire money or to use money transferring services like Western Union to pay applicable animal transport fees.
  • Customers are responsible for making any needed arrangements with SkyWest and our major partners to transport their animals, including filling out paperwork or obtaining documentation related to the animal’s health.

What We Are Doing
